We have been to the San Juan Mountains dozens of times and Colorado two or three times a year for the last 34 years but we never get tired of it. We always see new things and find interesting places to go. This trip was to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary.
We have been to Andrews Lake probably 15 times trying to catch a reflection of the mountain in the lake but the wind always creates ripples and foils our plans. But not this year! I got exactly the image I have been trying to get for twenty years or so. Two minutes after I took the image you see here the wind came up and the reflection was gone!
There was a lot of snow this year. More than any time we have been to Colorado in June. Everywhere we went the mountains had snow from the deep winter snow pack. Rivers and streams were flowing like we've never seen as well. Consequently everything was green with a nice white accent. Except for the copious wildflowers; they were literally everywhere. We have just never seen spring in Colorado so beautiful.
Here are some of the images we made in the course of a week in the San Juan Mountains.
